To select the audio output format
Highlight AUDIO OUT SEL. in the AUDIO SETTING menu, and
press ENTER.
The AUDIO OUT SEL menu is displayed:
Press < or > to highlight the format you want, and press
ENTER.
Choose AC-3 if you are connecting the 586 DVD Player to an
external digital surround processor.
Choose PCM to use the 586 on-board AC-3 decoder to provide
two channel PCM audio on the digital and analogue outputs,
suitable for feeding to a preamplifier or DSP loudspeakers.
To select dynamic range control
The DVD player’s on-board AC-3 decoder provides dynamic
range control, which is a feature available with Dolby Digital
(AC-3) discs that makes quiet sounds easier to hear. It is ideal
for low-level listening, such as late at night.
Highlight D RANGE CONTROL in the AUDIO SETTING menu,
and press ENTER.
The D RANGE CONTROL menu is displayed:
Press < or > to turn dynamic range control on or off, and
press ENTER.
